2 The stat sheet

From price to probability

-110 becomes 1 + 100 ÷ 110 = 1.91. +150 becomes 1 + 150 ÷ 100 = 2.50. 10/11 becomes 1 + 10 ÷ 11 = 1.91.

Decimal odds Implied probability = 1 ÷ odds

On both sides of a market, the implied probabilities add up to more than 100%. The payout rate is 1 ÷ that total, and the vig is the gap to 100%. The betting odds guide goes through each step.

Key takeaway

The implied probability is your break-even rate: win more often than that, or the bet loses money over time.

Frequently asked questions

How do you convert American odds to decimal?

Negative odds: 1 + 100 ÷ the number, so -110 becomes 1.91. Positive odds: 1 + the number ÷ 100, so +150 becomes 2.50.

What is the vig on a -110 / -110 market?

Both sides imply 52.4%, 104.8% in total. The payout rate is 1 ÷ 1.0476 = 95.5%, so the vig is 4.5%.

What are no-vig odds?

The odds with the margin removed: divide each side's implied probability by the total, then take 1 ÷ that probability. At -110 / -110, each side is 50%, or 2.00.
